Loosemore Advisory was founded in 2023 to give organisations practical support when addressing complex situations. We work across finance, operations, culture and risk. The common thread in the projects we tackle is careful judgment and structured analysis. We take the time to understand the problem, examine the data, and build frameworks that leaders can use with confidence.

Our philosophy

Good decisions come from clarity. Leaders face competing priorities, obligations, financial pressure and uncertainty. Our role is not to oversimplify the problem, although that is not to say that sometimes there are simple solutions to complex problems. It is to structure it so the choices are visible and trade-offs are understood.

We do not replace management’s decision-making. We provide the tools and analysis that make decisions more informed, balanced and transparent. Whether the issue is financial, operational, cultural or regulatory, our approach is evidence-based and grounded in experience across multiple disciplines.

About Michael Symons

Every system carries its own limits. The task is not to remove them, but to see them clearly enough that better decisions can be made within them.

Michael began his career in professional services with a focus on corporate tax consulting, before moving into corporate advisory and investment banking. He worked on projects involving resources, privatisations, and capital structure, and has since advised organisations across a wide range of industries on transactions, governance, and operational challenges.

He has also held senior management roles, leading teams and delivering operational and strategic projects across technology and financial services.

Alongside this practical work, Michael completed a PhD at Melbourne Law School. His research sharpened his ability to analyse complex systems and test assumptions with rigour. This analytical depth complements his applied work in finance, operations, and governance, supporting a style that combines structured thinking with real-world judgment.

Michael’s breadth of perspective allows him to view problems through financial, operational, cultural, and governance lenses. He is skilled at breaking down complexity into structured choices that management can act on. Loosemore Advisory reflects this background: a practice built on clarity, analysis, and practical support for organisations navigating uncertainty.
